Dr. Cordell Katie Michaux, 83, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, April 20, 2014. Born in Burke County, NC on August 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James "June" G. Michaux and Katie Perkins Michaux. She was a member of Gaston Chapel Methodist Church.Dr. Michaux is survived by her trusted friend/son, Louie Corpening, Jr. of Morganton; a sister, Maxine M. Johnson of Johnson City, TN; a brother-in-law, William "Bill" Woodard of Morganton; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Dr. Michaux was preceded in death by a sister, Etta M. Woodard.The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
