Dorothy Fox Branch

Dorothy Fox Branch, 88, of Jefferson, NC formerly of Morganton died Tuesday, August 30, 2016. She was born in Burke County, NC on May 27, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Walter Mabe and Effie Williams Mabe. Dorothy was retired from Shadowline with 35 years of service. After her retirement she worked at Burger King and Roses. She also volunteered at Burke United Christian Ministries. She loved going on trips with the Senior adults. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Benjamin Fox; second husband, Johnny Branch; and son, Benny Dean Fox.
She is survived by son, Tony Blaine Fox and wife, Denise of Hickory; daughter, Belva Jean Fox Houck and husband, Bill of Lenoir; daughter-in-law, Estela Fox of NY; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and step-brother, Gary Mabe of Alba.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John Fowler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690 or to First United Methodist Church, 200 N. King St., Morganton, NC 28655.
