Dorothy Beatrice Ward Dean, 84, of Drexel, NC passed away peacefully at home with her Heavenly Father on Monday, November 1, 2021. Born April 17, 1937 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late George Daniel Ward and Nellie Jane Whisenant Ward. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Dean; and a daughter, Patricia Dean.
Dorothy was a member of Drexel Memorial Church where she sang in the choir and taught children’s Sunday school. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Dean is survived by her husband of 69 years, Harold Lloyd Dean; daughters, Janet Oliver (Bennette Wood) and Kathleen Radford (Rick); son, Darrell Dean (Kim); grandchildren, Susan Shepherd, Lynn Griffin, Trey Dean, Ashley Goree, Kendall Radford, Kasey Radford, and Brenda Radford; and great-grandchildren, Amber Griffin, Cameron Griffin, Natalie Shepherd, Oliver Taylor, Julian Radford, and Kristian Radford.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Friday, November 5, 2021 at Drexel Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. Lonnie Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Drexel Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
