Doris Faye Hardin Isaacs, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2023 at NE Georgia Medical

Hospital in Gainesville, GA. Born in Forest City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ralston Lee Hardin and Gladys Green Hardin.

She moved to Morganton, NC in her early 20’s, marrying Carol E. Isaacs. After Carol's passing in 1969, Doris raised their children in Morganton, NC and began her career with the NC Forestry Service. She later moved to Asheville, NC and retired from the NC Forestry Service after 31 years of service. In addition, she worked part-time at Memorial Mission Hospital.

Doris was a lifelong Baptist. She loved reading, spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids, as well as bird watching and her love of flowers.

Doris is survived by her son Michael E. Isaacs and wife Melody H. Isaacs of Candler, NC and her daughter Karen I. Freeman of Winder, GA; seven grandchildren, Kaylie R. Freeman of Winder, GA, Michael T. Isaacs of West Virginia, Travis Isaacs of Maryland, Coltan Curtis of Marion, NC, Shannon I. Kisselburg and husband Page of Leicester, NC, Macie H. Gunter and husband Brandon, and Tyler Hanshaw of Candler,NC; 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Howard

Hardin, and sisters Libby Allred, Bonnie Lee, Peggy Ponder, and Nancy Ramsey, all of the Rutherford

County, NC area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carol Eugene Isaacs; brother, Larry Thomas (Booger) Hardin; and her sister, Patsy H. Lee.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday August 5th, 2023, at El Bethel Baptist Church

in Morganton, NC with Reverend Keith Rose officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I enjoyed the few years I knew Doris. I babysit for Karen and Michael when they were little. She lived just a couple houses above my mom and dad.?She was the nicest lady.
