Doris Ann McGhee Fleenor, 90, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 20, 1935, in Morganton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Carl McGhee and Susan Smith McGhee.
Doris dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband of 71 years, Jimmy; their three children, Carla, David, Laurie; and only grandchild, Megan.
Doris' greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving environment. Doris' love for nurturing things was evident in her beautiful yard, which she lovingly tended for over four decades. She was a kind, creative and beloved mother who was the center of her children’s world.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James Fleenor, Sr.; children, Carla Sadtler, David Fleenor, and Laurie Fleenor; granddaughter, Megan Gore; brothers, Robert McGhee (Thaxine), Ray McGhee (Judy), and Tim McGhee (Lynne); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mike Sadtler.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Jack Hodges officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
