Dora Mae Hamby Ramsey Pruitt

Dora Mae Hamby Ramsey Pruitt, 93, of Morganton passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018.  Born in Davidson County, TN on March 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Garfield Allen Hamby and Myra Linda Stewart Hamby.  Dora was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who retired from Broughton Hospital after 21 years.  She enjoyed travelling and cooking for her family.

Dora is survived by her children, Larry Ramsey (Daisy) of Lattimore, NC, Darrell Pruitt (Pat) of Valdese, and Robin Smith of Morganton; grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Destiny Smith, Gary Ramsey, Tracy Jones, Lisa Willis, Greg Ramsey, Amy Lee, Dana Jones, Shelley Ramsey, Pam Blanton, Dustin Ramsey, and Ashley Ramsey; and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other extended family.

In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Keith Ramsey, Jr.; second husband, Russell Lee Pruitt; sons, Steve Oliver Ramsey and Roger Dale Ramsey; brothers, Clinton, Royal, Lloyd, Jake, Roy, and Claude Hamby; and sister, Hattie Duckworth.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lawndale, NC.
