Donald Ralph McGinnis, 80, of Morganton, NC died on Monday, October 26, 2015 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Elmira, NY on September 11, 1935, he was the son of the late William McGinnis and Silvia Marie Whirt McGinnis. Donald was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked several jobs for the Veterans Administration in Bath, NY and worked and retired from Rochester (M.D.C.) Mental Health Hospital. Thirty years ago he moved to Morganton and worked and retired from Broughton Hospital.
Donald is survived by his children, Donna Clarice Mills of the home, Doris Re of Holley, NY, Donald McGinnis, II and his wife, Tracy, of Morganton, and Douglas McGinnis and his wife, Marcia, of Morganton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald McGinnis and his wife, Fritz, of Horseheads, NY; and numerous nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Sally Anne Hutchison McGinnis; a daughter, Kelly Anne McGinnis; a son, Jeffrey Alan McGinnis; brothers, Robert, Richard, Howard, and Thomas McGinnis; and a sister, Lois Ann Check.
No services are planned at this time.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
