Donald Leroy Lappie, 89, of Morganton passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 28, 2020. He was born on December 2, 1930 in Hampden County, MA. Donald was a brick layer and worked for the US Postal Service. Mr. Lappie was a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed being part of the drum and bugle corps in Springfield, MA and working with computers. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family.
Donald is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia Greeno Lappie; step-children, Carl Bryant of Vermont, Dawn Perry of Morganton, Amy Bryant of Morganton, Holly Rios (Jorge) of Palm Bay, FL, Denise Westcott of Palm Bay, Frank Westcott (Becky) of Vermont, and Julie Fandino of Vermont; son-in-law, Marc Walden; daughter-in-law, Janet Westcott; brothers-in-law, Edgar Greeno (Sandy), Ron Greeno, and Steve Greeno; sister-in-law, Ann Disorda; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Donald was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lappie; step-children, Beth Walden and John Westcott Sterling, Jr.; and brothers, Robert and Edward Lappie.
A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at a later date.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
