Donald Jackson McCall, born on January 17, 1938, left this earthly life after a brief illness on March 24, 2017, to be reunited with a host of family and friends awaiting him in Heaven. He will be sorely missed because of the impact his Christian character made on the hearts and lives of all who knew him. Especially grieving his loss are his wife, Maxine Cooper McCall, along with relatives, friends, and colleagues on local, state, and national levels. Preceding him in death were his parents: Thomas Jackson McCall and Edna Daves McCall, also of Drexel.

Don was a product of the Drexel schools and graduated from NC State’s School of Engineering. He was a former executive with Drexel Heritage, retiring as Director of Production Planning. He was co-founder with his wife of C & M Resources – a publishing and consulting business. He has served as a member of the Drexel Lions Club, Drexel Church of God treasurer, chairman of the Church Council, Sunday School teacher, as well as on other boards within the church. He co-founded with his wife the Christians Broadcasting Hope (CBH) Bible Study Conference at Montreat, sponsored by CBH ministries of the Church of God (Anderson, IN) --- currently known as CBH Retreat at the Cove. In addition, he has been a board member and chairman of Warner Press, the publishing house of the Church of God. Other civic endeavors include serving as a charter member of the Board of Directors of the History Museum of Burke County. and a member of the NC Society of Historians. He was a current board member of the Community Foundation of Burke County.

A Memorial Service honoring Don’s life will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the First Church of God in Drexel. A private family cryptside service will be held at Burke Memorial Park prior to the Memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Community Foundation for the McCall Endowment Fund.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
