Dolly S. Bradshaw, 90, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Born in Mecklenburg County, NC on October 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Luther Ben Garvin and Mary Etta Junie Spake. Dolly was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. She loved to play piano, including playing for her church for many years. She also taught piano and played on the radio with a gospel group. Dolly traveled to some of the most iconic sites in the world, visiting The Great Wall of China, Jerusalem, The Pyramids and others. Dolly had earned a nursing license and retired after many years of service with Broughton Hospital and Autumn Care Center. After retirement she enjoyed socializing with friends over card games, especially Bridge.

Dolly is survived by her daughter Karen Bryant (Andy); son Keith Bradshaw (Jessica); grandchildren, Amanda Welty (Keith), Ashlee Bullard, and Dawson Bradshaw; and great-grandchild Annabelle Bullard. In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by sisters, Vertie Crooks and Dorothy Cassidy, and brother, Daniel Pruitt.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers, Pam Patton, Nicole Gladden, Taylor Buchanan and the employees of the Shaire Center and Catawba Valley Medical Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice of Burke County or Catawba Valley Medical Services.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with arrangements.

I worked with Dolly many years ago as a new nurse at Autumn Care. This was in 1984 and 1985. Had much respect for Dolly. She was an exceptional nurse and the patients adored her. Sincere condolences to Dollys family at this time. Sincerely, Margot Withrow
