Dennis Ray Waycaster

Dennis Ray Waycaster, 81 of Morganton, NC passed away, Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Born on March 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Bernie Waycaster and Ruth Waycaster Derreberry. Ray was a veteran of the US Army. He loved to ride motorcycles with his close friends. Ray was a square dance caller for a few years. Ray was a beautiful singer and had a great voice, he sang at church and for several funerals.

Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Waycaster; special nephews, Edward Joseph Waycaster (Amy), Dennis Robert Waycaster (Patience); Brian C Holland (Lisa), Mark David Holland (Melissa); special nieces, Karen Livingston (Jim), Crystal Morrison; sister-in-law, Martha Gettys; brother-in-law, David Holland (Judy); and a number of great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Bernie Edward Waycaster (Doris); stepfather, JD Derreberry.

The family will receive friends from 2pm until 3pm, Monday, May 19, 2025 at Rain Hill Wesleyan Church. The funeral will be held in the church at 3pm with the Revs. Kevin Brooks and Ron Rider officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rain Hill Wesleyan Church, 5763 Rainhill Church Rd, Morganton, NC 28655.
