Dennis "Joe" Gilbert, 57, of Marion passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Born November 9, 1958 in McDowell County, NC, he was the son of the late O.C. Gilbert and Agnes Ferguson Gilbert. During his work career he had worked at Marion Machine Company and Lift Tech Company doing a lot of machine work in McDowell County. Joe had a big heart and helped many.
He is survived by daughters, Sabrina Gilbert Sexton of Morganton and Amanda Gilbert of Drexel; granddaughter, Myleigh Sexton; brothers, Danny Gilbert, Randy Gilbert both of Marion, and Jim Gilbert of KY; sister, Gwen Lowery; and girlfriend, Pam Gooding of the home.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Shawn Thomas officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680 to help with funeral expenses.
