Dennis James Epley, 67, of Drexel, NC went to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

Born December 11, 1956 in Burke County, NC, he was the son of the late Lee Roy Epley and Gladys Lucille Robinson Epley. Dennis spent 35 years with the Triple Community Fire Department, where he retired as chief. He was also one of the first paramedics in Burke County and worked with Burke County Emergency Services for 23 years.

Mr. Epley is survived by his wife of 25 years, Roxanne “Rocky” Epley; children, Heather Causby (Doug), Zach Wood, Jennifer Hiatt (Chris), Danielle Abernathy (Steven), and Anna Miller (Kyle); grandchildren, Emma Osborne, Addison Causby, Riley Abernathy, Macy Miller, Caisley Miller, Lawton Miller, and Lynleigh Miller; siblings, Cindy Jaynes (Eric), Roy Dwayne Epley (Gina), and Wanda Hege (Kevin); a number of nieces and nephews, and his aunts, Pearl Rowell (Ty) and Linda Bryant. An avid animal lover, he also leaves behind his precious companions, Willie, Sadie, and Rusty.

The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Burke Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
