Delia Lane Walker, 96, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016. Born in Catawba County, NC on July 6, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lane and Sadie Epley Lane. Delia assisted with bible school and Sunday school at Hopewell Baptist Church. She was employed by Shadowline and Drexel Heritage. The family would like to express their appreciation to Ellen Carver for the love and care she gave to Delia at her home.
Mrs. Walker is survived by a son, Lee Walker and his wife, Sylvia, of Mt. Pleasant, NC; and four nieces, Ellen Carver, Amanda Benfield, Kim Orders, and Dorothy.
In addition to her parents, Delia was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar William Walker; sisters, Sally Smith, Dorie Maloney, Florence Benton, Ruth Hoyle, and Leith Barnett; and 4 brothers, Will, Alex, Peter, and Glen Lane.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 pm, Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. David Orders officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
