Delia Emma Caldwell, 84, of the Lake James Community in Morganton passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Born in Burke County on March 4, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Delia Corpening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Edmonson; a great-grandchild; and several brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, William “Bill” Caldwell, daughter, Anita Brigman of Chesapeake, VA; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers, James and Hugh Corpening; sister, Dorothy Caldwell; and other loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2019 at Shiloh A.M.E. Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Dr. Wayne Beatty officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
