Davy Allen Higgins, 68, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Born in McDowell County, NC on September 14, 1956, he was the son of the late Rev. Garland Dee Higgins and Marjorie Brooks Higgins.

Davy worked for Baxter for 30 years, where everyone affectionately called him Bozo.

He loved to talk to everyone, and he never met a stranger. Davy enjoyed gospel music and loved to play the piano.

Mr. Higgins leave behind his son, David Matthew Higgins; the mother of his son, Debra Whisnant; sister, Shelia Reel (Billy); favorite niece, Jessica Mace (Nathan), who Davy called BooBoo from the day she was born; and two great-nephews, Cooper and Luke.

In addition to his parents, Davy was preceded in death by his brother, Garry Dee Higgins; maternal grandparents, Hiram and Bessie Brooks; and paternal grandparents, W.C. and Ada Higgins.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Wallace Smith and Rev. Mike Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Hate to hear this! I grew up with Dave as we called him at Riverside where his dad preached. Had some good laughs and always joking around. A great piano player . Prayers for his son and sister and all left to cherish his memory
