David Y. Greene, 84, of Morganton, NC went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1940 in Caldwell County to the late Turner Greene and Dulce Younce Greene. David was a member of Hartland Missionary Methodist Church and volunteered as the church bus driver. He was a veteran of the US Army. David worked in several furniture factories and was also a mechanic. He retired from the Burke/Caldwell Water Distribution Plant.
David was a man of extraordinary character, loving, kind, gentle, and deeply devoted to the Lord. He showed his love for God in the way he loved others and always putting his family first. He worked tirelessly to provide for his loved ones with a servant’s heart.
His presence spoke volumes, always showing up and making sure his loved ones felt cared for and supported. He was a man who found joy in the simple things in life yet left an immeasurable impact in everyone who knew him. He will always be deeply loved and greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Barbara Ann Greene; son, Ricky D. Greene; brothers, Tom, Bobby and Danny Greene; sisters, Velma, Virginia, Viola and Vandella.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Lynn Suttles and husband, Ronnie Suttles; granddaughter, Kira Suttles; sister, Mary Ellen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Hartland Missionary Methodist Church. The funeral will begin at 2pm in the church with Rev. Danny Carr and Evangelist Jamie Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the Houck Family Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

That's a great picture of David. He will be missed by so many. I've never seen David when he didn't have a smile on his face I will miss him. He sure did brighten up every one's day. Lynn, you had 2 wonderful parents. I know you're hurting now, but you also have such great memories. I love you, Ronnie and Kira and I pray the Lord will wrap you all in His loving arms and carry you through this.
I have known David all my life He was a man of great character and a great friend.I will dearly miss our conversations.Prayers for the family.

Uncle David will be greatly missed! He was a kind, genuine soul who loved his family with all his heart! Once again heaven just became sweeter! I love you Uncle David. You surely are enjoying the best chocolate milkshakes of your life.

Done alot for me over the last 56years that i've known him. Help me have a career, make friends I would have never got to know. Always had a smile every time we met. See you on the other side before long. Love you brother
I am the daughter of his brother Bobby. Uncle David was an extraordinary man. He always had that beautiful smile and that hug he would give me every time i seen him. He always had that way of letting me know i was truly loved. Even though we didn't see each other alot. That greeting from him was always the same. I will miss you Uncle David.
