David Wesley Abernathy, 82 of Glen Alpine, passed away, Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Born on January 19, 1943, he was the son of the late James and Alice Abernathy.

David was a member of First Baptist Church of Glen Alpine. He enjoyed going to the Flea Market and sold all kinds of jewelry. To his customers, he was known as “Diamond Dave.” David loved his family dearly, but most of all loved being a grandfather.

David is survived by his son, Chase Abernathy (Kayla Webb); grandsons, Brady and Beckett Abernathy; brothers, Tim Abernathy (Susan), Phillip Abernathy (Beverly); and his best friend and K9 companion, Bandit.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny, Nelson, and Henry Abernathy; granddaughter Blakely Abernathy.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm, Saturday, June 7, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Glen Alpine. A memorial service will follow in the church at 2pm with the Rev. Dr. John Terry officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
