David “Dave” Sebastino, 59, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Born in Cortland, NY on December 5, 1963, he was the son of the late John R. Sebastino, Sr. and Barbara Plumadore Sebastino. Dave was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church.

Dave was a beloved husband, dedicated father to his girls, and was totally committed to his role as “Da” with all his grandchildren. He found his stride with his “Sunshine Boy,” Harrison, who brought the purest joy for his six weeks on Earth.

Dave was a fierce dog dad and dog granddad. He loved NASCAR, especially #3 Dale Earnhardt. If Dave had his choice, diet Sundrop would flow free in Heaven. He often made life hilarious for his friends and family with his unique sense of humor. If sarcasm was a spiritual gift, Dave was blessed in abundance.

He never failed to help anyone in need, even at his own expense. Dave was a gifted heavy equipment operator and an awesome troubleshooter with anything mechanical.

He loved big. It was steady, constant, and in abundance. The family will carry on, as he and Tami have always done: together, united, and one day at a time. The greatest comfort is that Dave is healed, in the presence of his savior, Jesus, and holding Harrison until the rest of them can get home. “Sunshine Boy and Da, till we meet again.” If Dave could have the last word, it would be, “I told you I was sick.”

Dave is survived by his best friend and wife of 40 years, Tami Stearns Sebastino; daughters, Andrea Sebastino (Becca), Stacey Blackburn (Jay), and Geanna Sebastino; grandchildren, Hannah, Tristan, Jackson, Bella, Cole, Emma, and Jason; father-in-law, Neal Stearns; sisters-in-law, Terri Maxson, Laura Maxson (Chris), Cheryl Thomas (John), Terri Burlingame, and Pat Sebastino; brother-in-law, John Paley; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Harrison Sebastino; brother, John R. Sebastino, Jr.; sister, Carol Paley; and mother-in-law, Georgia Stearns.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Burkemont Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. in the church with Drs. Eddy Bunton and Luke Lane officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
