Darren Scott Bolick, 40, died Thursday, December 21, 2006, at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center following a period of declining health. He was born on July 15, 1966 in Catawba County, NC and was a son of James A. and Annette Bolton Bolick of Hickory. Darren received the 2006 Resident of the Year for Magnolia Cottage.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, James and Annette Bolick; a brother, Jeff Bolick and his wife, Lee, of Hickory; a sister, Jan Bolick Greene, and her husband, Randy, of Lenoir; four nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his caregivers and friends at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James (Verna) Bolick and Mr. and Mrs. William C. (Lee) Bolton.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006, at the Covenant Center with Rev. Johnny A. Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Covenant Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the J. Iverson Riddle Foundation, 300 Enola Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
