Darrell “Fuzzy” Moretz, 31, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Born in Alexander County, NC on September 15, 1985, he was the son of Joy Hall Moretz of Nebo, NC and Vernon Horney and wife, Melissa, of Morganton. Darrell was working at James Tool. He loved animals, playing music, and to make people laugh; he also enjoyed his Harley motorcycles.
In addition to his parents, Darrell is survived by his brothers, Matt Moretz, Levi Horney and wife, Erika, and Jesse Horney and fiancée, Jennifer Johnson, all of Morganton; sisters, Melanie Johnson and husband, Robbie, of Valdese, NC and Aaliyah Rudisill of Morganton; nieces and nephews, Madison Moretz, Daisy Horney, and Jordan, Shaylee, Breanna, and Hannah Johnson; and grandparents, Kathy and Leroy Horney, and Ruth Reed.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 pm, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A celebration of Darrell’s life will follow at 4 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Rocky Reese officiating.
