Darlene Silvers Carswell

Darlene Silvers Carswell, 58, of Morganton, NC went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Catawba County Palliative Care Center. Born in Madison County, NC on December 29, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Dean Frank Silvers and Valerie Elizabeth Suttles Silvers.Darlene attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her garden, raising flowers, and cooking for her family. She always put her family first.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Darlene is survived by her husband, David Carswell of the home; a son, Randy Payne and wife, Kim, of Morganton; a grandson, Schylar Payne of Morganton; brothers, Clyde Eugene Silvers and wife, Doris, of Dandridge, TN, Thomas Glen Silvers and wife, Mary, of Spruce Pine, NC, Ronald Lee Silvers and wife, Regina, of Glen Alpine, NC, and Perry Lee Silvers and wife, Debbie, of Morganton; sisters, Shirley Plemons of Morganton and Wilma Fisher and husband, Jess; a sister-in-law, Emma Dean Silvers of Morganton; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her son, Robert Dean Payne; and a brother, Eddie James Silvers.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Mike Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of Shirley Plemons, 2472 Crestview Drive, Morganton, NC 28655.
