Danny M. Blankenship

Danny M. Blankenship, 68, of Morganton, NC, went to be with his heavenly Father Monday, March 3, 2025. Born in Burke County, NC on August 10, 1956, he was the son of Shirley Mae Epley Helms and the late Clarence Melvin Blankenship. Danny was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of Mulls Grove Baptist Church and was a loving and devoted husband, son, father and friend. Danny worked at numerous businesses, including Carolina Shoe, Drexel Heritage, Davis Woodturning, Hamby Garage, and Rector Garage. In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Diane Watson Blankenship; sons, Eric Blankenship (Jackie) and Phillip Blankenship; step-daughter, Sabrina D. Frye (Logan); grandchildren, Zackary Blankenship, Damon Blankenship, Loclyn Blankenship, and Autumn Blankenship; step-grandchildren, Celeste Watson and Henry Frye; brothers, Clarence M. Blankenship, Jr. and Dennis E. Blankenship; sisters, Susan Leona Owens, Barbara J. Franklin (Donald), and Regina Mae Ollis (Michael); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
