Dallas “Pete” Lincoln Roper, 55, of Morganton peacefully went to his rest on Sunday, September 22, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Burke County, NC on April 18, 1964, he is the son of Brenda Marie Powell Roper Reed and the late Dallas Roper, Jr. Pete was employed at Drew’s Diner as a short-order cook. He was a gifted gardener who loved animals, mountains, and the Lord who created them.
In addition to his mother, Pete is survived by his step-father, Gary Reed, Sr.; sisters, Denise Roper of Morganton and Doreen Tomasi and husband, Vince, of Panama City, FL; brother, Sam Roper of Morganton; best friend, Tim Rhom; beloved canines, Suki and Scooter; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A celebration of Pete’s life will follow in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Faye Acuff officiating. The service will be in conjunction with the service of his aunt, Frieda Buchanan.
