Born in Burke County, NC on July 9, 1954, he was the son of the late Carey Ellis Miller and Hazel Virginia Fortner Miller.

Dallas was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church and retired from the USFDA and family farm. Mr. Miller had a passion for farming, which was his life’s calling. He loved that he was producing things to benefit others. Dallas had served as president of the Burke County Cattlemen’s Association and was the recipient of the Cattleman of the Year Award, also known as the Ernie Mac Reed Award. He also served the community as a member of the Burke County School Board. Dallas was an avid bear hunter who treasured his relationship with his hunting partners and dearly loved his hunting dogs. An avid family man, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Debbie Carswell Miller; sons, Philip Leonard (Christie), Clinton Miller (Wendy), and Ben Miller; daughter, Jennifer Nicholson (Kaleb); grandchildren, Lily Leonard, Neecey Nicholson, and Elden Nicholson; siblings, Betty Wilfong (Jack), Patsy Bumgarner (Harmon), David Miller (Cheryl), and Owonia Hudson (Johnny); numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and the mother of his children, Mary Miller.

In addition to his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Miller.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2025 at El Bethel Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at noon in the church with Rev. Justin Cunningham officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to El Bethel Baptist Church, PO Box 2518, Morganton, NC 28680.

Dallas will be missed by many. Too many memories to list as we cousins grew up. Memories of good times hunting as family here and up north in Michigan. God speed Dallas. The dogs have struck and the race is on. Full cry rolling. See ya at the tree.
