Dairl O. Suttle, 83 of Lawndale, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 9, 2012 following many years of declining health. Born March 2, 1929 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late James Martin Suttle and Ethel Mae Saunders Suttle. Mr. Suttle was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and a retired employee of the Burke County Schools. He was a former employee of Drexel Heritage Furnishings and Henredon Furniture Company. Dairl was a master carpenter and painter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a special grandson, Chance Campbell; brothers, Landon, Ervin, Edward, and J.D. Suttle; sisters, Carrie Penley, Bertie Braswell, Colleen Dulier, and Mabel Beverin; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.Surviving are his sons, James Dairl Suttle and Jay Suttle both of Morganton; daughters, Brenda Campbell and husband, Jerry of Drexel, Gail Tillman and husband, Johnny, Sheron Killough and husband, Charlie all of Lawndale, Judy Crum and Sue Winebarger both of Valdese; grandchildren, Cody Killough and Danielle Gideon both of Vale, NC, Donna Webb, Josh Tillman, Christian Campbell, Tyler, Justin, Trevor, and Matthew Suttle all of Morganton, and Chad Winebarger of Valdese; a sister, Nell Barrett of Biloxi, MS; and several great grandchildren.The funeral will be held at Noon, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Norris Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Mull’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of Brenda and Jerry Campbell, 3658 Cook Rd., Drexel, NC. Memorial gifts may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
