Cynthia Smith Harris, 58, of Morganton died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 following a period of declining health. Cynthia was born in Burke County on June 7, 1952, and she was the daughter of the late Deward Hubbart Gober and Minnie Barrier Moses. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Cynthia was a Deputy Clerk of Superior Court in Burke County from 1976-1989.Surviving are her husband, John Harris of the home; her son and his wife, Brett and Monica Feimster of Valdese; her daughter and her husband, Stephanie and Bobby Pendergrass of Morganton; grandchildren, Marty Hayes, Micheal Pendergrass, and Brayden Pendergrass; a step-daughter, Summer Harris of Morganton; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews; and her long time K-9 companion, Blossom.In addition to her parents, Cynthia was preceded in death by half-brothers, John and Denny Gober and by half-sisters, Alma Montague and Mary Sue Powell.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Reese officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
