Constance “Connie” Lee Haneline, 77, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018.  She was born December 2, 1941 in Rochester, NY, to Roland H. Hilbert and Eveyln Gardner Hilbert. She grew up in Martinsville, VA, enjoying dance and being a majorette at Martinsville High School, where she graduated.  As a young adult she cared for her ailing father until his death and then married William “Bill” Haneline. Together they had four children. She spent most of her life in Martinsville, VA, rearing her family and faithfully attending her beloved childhood church, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. There she enjoyed singing in the choir and playing handbells. Six years ago following several hospitalizations, Connie embraced her new life in Morganton, and enjoyed attending and finding new friends at Oak Hill Methodist Church, Burke Senior Center, Community in Action Adult Care, and at Hair Infinity. If you enjoyed laughter and cutting up, you were an instant friend of Connie’s, often referred to as the “other” Carol Burnett. Connie’s final days were filled giving praise to Jesus for her salvation, expressing gratitude for her many blessings, and her trusting in His arms to take her home.

Surviving are her brother, Ron Hilbert (Rachel) of Greensboro; her son Warren Haneline of Ridgeway, VA, and Tracy Haneline; her daughters Melissa H. Hall (Howard) of Morganton, Kimberly H. Parker of Martinsville, VA, and Brian Parker, and Tiffany H. Stovall (George) of Patrick Springs, VA.  She adored her grandchildren: Caleb, Faith, and Noah Haneline; Hayes, Leighton, and Coleman Hall; Abigail Parker; Payton and Glenn Stovall; and her nieces Beth Loseke and Cheryl Fulghum and their families.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cristal Blake and the staffs of Morganton Internal Medicine, Grace Heights, Springs of Catawba, Catawba and Burke Hospices who lovingly cared for her.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1720 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
