Clinton Adam Walker, 72, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 following a period of declining health. He was born in McDowell County on April 26, 1938 and was a son of the late James Pender and Pearl Elizabeth Gibbs Walker. Mr. Walker was a disabled U. S. Navy veteran. He retired in 2000 from the Burke County Public Schools maintenance department, and previously Clinton had worked for Reliable Heating and Air. He volunteered and then retired from the West End Fire Department, and was of the Methodist faith.Clinton was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Trulah Reece Walker of the home; daughters, Pamela Walker of Morganton and Beverly Berry and her husband, Mark, of Rutherford College; grandchildren, Adam and Jacob Berry, and Cooper Walker Jones; and by a sister, Carol Dale of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Clinton was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Walker and by a sister, Frances Walker.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Avery Owenby officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Sossoman Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Pamela Walker, N. River Glen Drive, Glen Alpine.
