Clifford John Tolbert, Jr., 70, of Morganton, NC passed away, June 16, 2026. Born on June 6, 1956, he was the son of the late Clifford Tolbert, Sr. and Jesse Phillips Tolbert. Clifford served in the US Navy. He was very reliable and was the most helpful brother, uncle, and friend. Clifford had a witty personality and always told a good story. He was strong in his convictions and marched to the beat of his own drum. Clifford had a great smile and would light up a room with his dimples. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Tolbert.
Clifford is survived by his siblings, Linda Corder, Elizabeth Barnhardt (Charles), Judy Mitchem (James), and Darryl W. Tolbert.
There are no services planned at this time for Mr. Tolbert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

For the time I had with my uncle the last 3 years was the hardest thing to see I seen a man that had his own self figured real good he was as sure of his ability as sure as the sun rises and then he didn't find himself one morning and soon not any morning I miss him and wish I could tell him thank you for the opportunity to spend the last few moments of his life it was my pleasure to look over him and it's not so easy to say we will see.
