Clifford L. “Buddy” Causby, 93, of Morganton, NC, went to his heavenly home on Friday, October 7, 2022.

Born in Burke County, NC on July 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Raymond Lee Causby and Mary Etta Franklin Causby.  Mr. Causby was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church.  Buddy was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, and he served aboard the USS St. Paul from 1947 until 1952 as a Damage Controlman Second Class.  Buddy retired from Great Lakes Carbon with 38 years of service.  He enjoyed working in his yard and watching sports (football, baseball, and NASCAR), and he loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Causby is survived by his daughter, Judy Davis; son, Eddie Causby (Linda); grandchildren, Christopher Davis, Brian Davis, Dustin Causby (Jennifer) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Charlie Talbert (Debbie) of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael F. Davis; great-grandson, Andrew Davis; and two sisters, Willa Mae C. Mull and Margaret Garrison.

The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating.  Military honors will be performed by the US Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Above and Beyond Fund of Burkemont Baptist Church, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655 or to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.

The family would like to express their appreciation nurses and staff of Amorem Hospice in Hudson and Valdese.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
