Cleo E. Kochheiser, 88, of Morganton, NC died Thursday, June 26, 2014. Born on August 2, 1925 in Des Moines, IA, he was the son of the late Frank Edward Kochheiser and Gertrude Porter Finnane. After high school, Cleo served with the 4th Division of the U.S. Marine Corps in the south pacific from 1943 until 1945. Following his honorable discharge, Cleo married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Bole, in 1946. They lived and worked in Des Moines until their retirement in 1981 and were members of Westminster United Presbyterian Church.
Cleo and Ruth then enjoyed 26 wonderful years in McAllen, TX, where they loved square dancing, biking, and many social activities. In 2007 they relocated to Grace Ridge to be closer to their only daughter.
Cleo is survived by his wife, Ruth Kochheiser of the home; a daughter, Judy Grubbs and her husband, Joe, of Gibsonville, NC; a granddaughter, Julie Grubbs of Carrboro, NC; and a grandson, Jefferson Grubbs of Brooklyn, NY.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
