Clayton Arthur Carswell, 70, of Valdese went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on November 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Elvie Grace Whisnant Herron. Clayton owned and operated Carswell Disposal Service for 36 years. He was an avid fan of dirt track racing and loved helping other people.
Clayton is survived by his son, David Ray Carswell of the home; a daughter, Janice Yvonne Lambert of Morganton; granddaughters, Jessica Ann Karst, Brittany Lee Hollifield, and Brooke Nicole Lambert; great-grandchildren, Wesley Lon Ross, Allison Marie Lincoln, Conner Andrew Perkins, and Grayson Andrew Douglas; a sister, Shirley Chapman of Drexel; a brother-in-law, S. S. Carswell of Morganton; and his canine companion, Sampson.
In addition to his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Carswell.
The memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2015 at Harvest Praise Church with the Rev. Barry Camp officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
