Clay Tessneer, 97, of Morganton has gone to be with Jesus, Saturday, November 3, 2018. Born on August 13, 1921, he is the son of the late Dave G. Tessneer and Effie Beaver Tessneer. He was a retiree from Henredon Furniture. He also served in the US Army.
Clay is survived by his daughter, Betty Tessneer Riddle of Morganton; grandchildren, Lemuel Guy Riddle (Cindy), Lisa Riddle Kennedy (Bryan); great-grandchildren, Misty Clark Smith (Johnathan), Hobie Riddle (Elizabeth), Max Riddle, Ryan Kennedy; great great-grandchildren, Aubrey Smith, Eli Smith, Hobie Riddle Jr., Carmen Smith.
In addition to his parents, Clay is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hastings Tessneer, brother Ray Tessneer; sister, Lucille Crowe.
The family will receive friends 1 until 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Revs. James Jernigan. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
Military Honors will be provided by the NC Nation Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
