Claude T. Moses, 72, of Morganton died Saturday, December 8, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born in Burke County on December 30, 1939 and was a son of the late Thomas David Moses and Minnie Adeline Smith Moses. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moses was preceded in death by siblings, Bill Moses and Beulah Norville. He was a retired employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings where he worked for 47 years. Currently he worked at the Burke County Convenience Center on NC 18 South. He was a member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church and, in his spare time, he loved farming.Surviving are his wife, Viola Pearson Moses of the home; sons, Tommy Moses and his wife, Terry, and Billy Moses; daughters, Diane Nations and Susan Williams and her husband, Darrell, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Josh Blackburn, Jason Williams, Brandon Williams, Ashley Moses, Miranda Stevens and her husband, Grant, Nathan Moses, Kellie Milligan and her husband, Tyler, and Logan Moses; a great-grandson, Loggie Williams; a brother, Rev. Jack Moses and his wife, Gladys of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Al Tinnin and Rev. Jack Moses officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral hour.
