Christopher Lee “Chris” Shell, 43, of Morganton, NC passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017. He was born in Burke County, NC on November 16, 1973 and was the son of Richard Allen Shell and Vickie Roper Shell. Chris was an avid Nascar fan, Duke Cameron Crazy and a Yankee fan. He was a member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church.
Chris was preceded in death by grandparents, Vera and Nellis Shell and William “Bud” Roper; and uncles, Jim and Mike Shell.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Lynn Deal Shell of the home; our boys, Daniel Mayfield, Josh Teeple, and Shane Henderson; mother-in-law, Frances Greene; sister-in-law, Heather Greene; brother-in-law, Millard Mayfield; grandmother, Pauline Roper of Morganton; sister, Dawn Byrd and husband, Dee of High Point, NC; niece, Amiya Byrd of High Point, NC; aunt, Margaret Shell of Morganton; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; band of brothers, Davey Anderson, Eric Shehan, Greg Henderson, Wes Ahrens, Blake Marler, Josh Benfield, Jacob Hicks, and Jason Morris; honorary pallbearers, Kacey Carineo, Jeffrey McGee, and Jason Stamey; and canine companions, Zeus and Thor.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church LEC. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the church with Rev. Donald Lovelace and Rev. Rocky Reese officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with honors provided by NC Department of Public Safety Honor Guard.
