Charlie Beth Miller, 83, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Born in Burke County, NC on August 30, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Charles Erastus Benfield and Leola Kathleen Hampton Browning. Charlie was a long-time, devoted member of Zion Baptist Church. She was an active member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 43 Auxiliary for over 40 years and volunteered countless service to veterans. Charlie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and loved her dogs very much.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of over 40 years, Robert Miller; daughter, Penny Angela Moody; step-son, Dr. Robert Miller; half-siblings, Jerry Dale Browning, Jacquelyn Gail Browning Headstrom, and Joseph H. Browning; grandchildren, Jessica Church and her family, Sean Bollinger and his family, Britny Bollinger Shehan (Chris), Darin Moody, Misty Moody, Mathew Moody, and Robert Wayne Miller, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Eli, Layla, Jazmine, Zoey, Lilly, Rylan, Harley, Heidi, Joe, Lexi, Mason, and Layla; numerous extended family; and fur-babies, Jack, Jill, and Buddy.

In addition to her parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a son, Henry “Lynn” Bollinger, Jr.; brother, Reginald Trent Benfield; and sister, Sandra Dawn Benfield Aldridge.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Keith Rose officiating. The cryptside service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
