Sad to learn of Charlie's passing. Sincere condolences to Kim and all of Charlie's family/extended family. I've known Charlie for many years and have always known him as a great man and a great Driver License Examiner who always treated everyone with dignity and respect in a friendly and down-to-earth manner. Have never known him to have a problem with the public or others he came into contact with through his work. Prayers for all.

—Lane Throneburg

I was so heart broken to hear that Charlie passed away. I met Charlie many years ago through working with the State and over the years had the pleasure of working as a Hearing Officer with him. If anyone could brighten up your day it was Charlie. It was hard to be serious around Charlie , he always made me laugh. Charlie will surely be missed by many but he will forever be in our hearts. Sending love and prayers for the family. Rest well my friend.

I knew Charlie from the DMV but my daddy, Grady Thompson, knew him as one of his good friends. My daddy knew a lot of people but there were few he would say was a friend. Charlie and Sid were two on a very short list. Maybe it was bc he was a Dallas fan. Although I feel certain it was bc of the special person he was. My prayers are for his family tonight.

Deepest sympathy.

So enjoyed working with you as a DMV hearing officer. Your sense of humor and outlook on life was to be admired. Your dedication to your friends and family in later years was something everyone could define as "Charlie". Rest in peace. You've earned it

Awesome guy, neighbor and friend! Will miss our chats and home made sausage from McDowell county! Charlie answered the question “can anyone or any thing great come out of McDowell county”. He is probably eating some home made sausage right now!!
