Charles Walter Hall, 86, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021.  Born in McDowell County, WV on July 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Eugene Elmo Hall and Hazel Isabelle Adkinson Hall.  Charlie was a member of Mtn. View #2 Baptist Church.  He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served on the USS Brownson.  Charlie had a kind heart and loved helping other people.

Mr. Hall is survived by his children, James Randolph Hall, Peggy Hall McKinney, Hazel Hall Smith (Travis), Ann Marie Hall, Mary Sue Hall Matson, Rita Hall Garner, Joy Hall, and Keith Hall; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a special first cousin, William C. Hall; sister, Betty Hall Thompson; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Virginia Vaye Hicks Hall; great-granddaughter, Taya Marie Kifer; step-father who raised Charlie, Rudi Dollinger; sister, Billie Hall Kurtz; and his parents in law, James and Hazel Hicks.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2021 at Mtn. View #2 Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Ken Mashburn officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the US Navy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mtn. View #2 Baptist Church’s Annie Armstrong Mission.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
