Charles R. Fisher

Charles R. Fisher, Sr., 72 of Morganton died Saturday, May 19, 2012, after a period of declining health. Charles was born May 19, 1940 in Rutherford County to the late Claude Harlon Fisher and Lillie Mae Jones Fisher. He was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence Harlon Fisher and Henry Harrison Fisher and a sister, Hazel Fisher McNeely.Charles is survived by his wife, Judy Baker Fisher; son, Charles "Chuck" Ralph Fisher, Jr. and wife, Deborah "Debbie" of Morganton; daughters, Cathy Rene’ Fisher of Olive Hill, KY and Lisa Gail Fisher of Morganton; brothers, Paul Fisher, Isaac "Buddy" Fisher and wife, Dalelene and Steve Fisher and wife, Judy, all of Morganton; sisters, Beatrice Fisher Webb and husband, Clyde and Maryann Fisher, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Lance Corporal Eric Daniel McKinney, USMC, Jason Phillip McKinney, Dianna Elizabeth Fisher and Katelyn Nicole Fisher; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Stanley Townsend and Faye Townsend and several nieces and nephews.A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday May 22, 2012 at Silver Creek Baptist Church with the Reverends’ Freddie Williams, Stanley Townsend and Dwayne Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the North Carolina National Guard and the Caldwell County Veteran Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Sossoman Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
