Charles Norman "Buck" Suddreth, 74, of Math Place, Lenoir, NC died suddenly Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir. He was born September 17, 1931 in Caldwell County, NC, and was a son of the late Charles Erby Suddreth and Jesse Estes Suddreth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Stevens Suddreth. Buck served in the US Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Broughton Hospital and then started his own landscaping business.

He is survived by sons, Charles Keith Suddreth and Gregory Kent Suddreth, both of Lenoir; a daughter, Melissa Epperson of Lenoir; brothers, Don Suddreth of Lenoir, and Burton Suddreth of Alexander County; sisters, Nell Craig, Shirley Murphy, Carol McDale, and Sharon Suddreth, all of Lenoir, and Iris Estes of Granite Falls, NC; two grandchildren; and his long time companion, Betty Beard of Lenoir.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 4, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before the service at the funeral home.
