Charles “Charlie” McMahon, 74, of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at his home.  Born in Buncombe County, NC on January 22, 1942, he was the son of the late Ralph Sidney McMahon and Edna Beaver McMahon.  Charlie was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, worked for Synthron, Inc. for over 43 years, and then was self-employed for McMahon Transport.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR and playing golf. Along with his wife, Lib, they helped in nursing home ministry on Sundays.  A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Charlie enjoyed taking care of his wife and his dogs, Savannah and Jasmine.

Mr. McMahon is survived by his daughters, Beverly McMahon and her fiancé, Ronnie Greene, and Sharon Dupuis and her husband, Bobby, all of Morganton; a son, Tim McMahon and his wife, Christie, of Morganton; grandsons, Travis Dellinger, Robert Dupuis, Austin Winters, and Alex McMahon; granddaughters, Stevie Dellinger, April Turner and her husband, Luke, and Kate McMahon; and a great-granddaughter, River Turner; a brother, Phillip McMahon and his wife, Becky; and a sister, Kaye Raby of Hickory, NC.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Taylor McMahon; a granddaughter, Stacy Dawn Dellinger; and an infant brother.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 5 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will follow at 5 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Freddie Lindsey officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

He will be forever missed.
