Charles "Burgin" Orders

Charles "Burgin" Orders, 82, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at College Pines Nursing Center, Valdese, NC following a period of declining health. He was born August 8, 1924 in Burke County and was the son of the late Charles Glen and Ollie Stroup Orders. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his "best friend" and loving wife, Ruby Mull Orders. They had celebrated 52 years of wedded bliss. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glen Alpine, and served in the US Army during World War II.

Burgin is survived by sisters, Elizabeth Miller of Morganton and Betty Jean Wiggins of Charlotte, NC; nephews, Stephen T. Wiggins and Ron Grady, both of Charlotte, Dr. Charles C. Wiggins of Raleigh, NC; and James F. Wiggins of Lexington, NC; and nieces, Beth Kinion of Fredericksburg, VA and Terri Parham of Charlotte.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine with Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:30 to 3:00 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 205, Glen Alpine, NC 28628. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
