Cecil “Pawpaw” Pinkney Kincaid, 98, of Morganton, NC went to his home in Heaven on Thursday, May 19, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on August 16, 1917, he was the son of the late James Kincaid and Mary Jane Bean Kincaid.  Cecil helped organize and start El Bethel Baptist Church and was the oldest charter member.  He served as the elected director of the Baptist Training Union in 1944, deacon, Sunday school director, Sunday school teacher, on the Pastor Search Committee, and in the choir.  Mr. Kincaid had worked at the Old Morganton Shop, Drexel Heritage, and retired from Henredon after 35 years.

Cecil is survived by his children, Donald Kincaid and his wife, Barbara, of Morganton, Peggy Hartness and her husband, Don, of Conover, NC, Gail Lambert and her husband, Richard, of Morganton, and Rickie Kincaid and his wife, Rita, of Morganton; six grandchildren, Keith Kincaid, David Burns, Tina Jarvis, Chad Wiles, Jason Miller, and Dawn Ford; twelve great-grandchildren, Justin, Kari, Emily, Vanessa, Rachel, Chloe, Stephen, Jake, Summer, Matthew, Christopher, and Chase; and two great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Emery.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kincaid was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Emmie Conley Kincaid; four brothers; and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 4:30 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2016 at El Bethel Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at church at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Cooper, the Rev. David Bean, and Mr. Glen Jarvis officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Prior to the funeral, the family will be at the home of Tina Jarvis.
