Carver “Pop” Weatherman, 92, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016.  Born in Avery County, NC on September 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Dent Theron Weatherman and Floy Denita Hall Weatherman.  Pop was a member of Walker Road Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, and was a retired employee of Broughton Hospital.  He was a beloved little league coach as well as an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman.  He loved raising and hunting with his beagles.

Pop is survived by his wife, Elva Clark Weatherman of the home; sons, Jeff Weatherman and wife, Becky, and Lewis Weatherman and wife, Tammy, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Chad Weatherman and wife, Sarah, Katie W. Tollison and husband, Michael, Seth Weatherman, Sarah Weatherman, Molly Weatherman, and Heather Boggs; great-grandchildren, Easton Tollison, Emmett Tollison, and Benjamin Carver Weatherman; a brother, Carl Weatherman of Spruce Pine, NC; a sister, Crandle McClellan of Spruce Pine; and a sister-in-law, Jean Weatherman.

In addition to his parents, Pop was preceded in death by a son, Michael Weatherman; brother, Conrad and Claude Weatherman; and sisters, Clara Rathbone, Celena Pritchard, and Cora Robinson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Walker Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Rocky Branch.  The body will lie-in-state at the church from 10:30 to 11 am prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
