Carroll Clyde Bowman, 72, of Connelly Springs, NC passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born on May 3, 1946 in Catawba County to the late Clyde McCree Bowman and Cordelia Duncan Herig. Carroll was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. He was a former maintenance engineer at Burke Mills and O’Mara. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to help people.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Hope Bollinger Bowman; sister, Lilly Elder.
Carroll is survived by his children, Shelly Daniels (Ty Thurber) of Lincolnton, Wayne Pritchard (Ordelia) of Guam, Melissa Bowman (Ryan Steffey) of Morganton; grandchildren, Sara Laws, Joshua Pritchard and Kaila Spillane, Orion Pritchard, Kida Pritchard, Nicholas Sablan, Joshua Sablan; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Laws, Adeline Pritchard, Klautz Sablan; brothers, Leon, Charles and Roger Bowman; sisters, Phyllis Little and Francis Sigmon.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be at 11:00am, Friday, February 8, 2019 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Stacey Layne officiating. Burial will follow at Salem United Methodist Church. Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard.
