Carolyn Secrest McDaniel

Carolyn Secrest McDaniel, 81, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on September 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Henly Secrest and Amanda Odell Hall Secrest.  Carol was an active member of Enon Baptist Church.  She retired from the Burke County School System with over 50 years of service.  A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carol’s joy in life was taking care of her family.

Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her grandchildren, Seth McDaniel and wife, Sarah Rand-McDaniel, of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jena Renee McDaniel of West Jefferson; great-grandson, Kane Taylor McDaniel; daughter-in-law, Danielle McDaniel of Drexel; brother, Joe Secrest of Rock Hill, SC; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Carter McDaniel; son, Maurice “Keith” McDaniel; and several brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2019, at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Garner officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
