Her parents, David and Callie McFalls of Glen Alpine, NC, and her maternal grandmother Nettie Mae Abernathy, who had a very special place in her heart, preceded her in death.Carolyn, like her mother Callie before her, was a career teacher in the North Carolina public schools. She began her teaching career at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center and ended her career at Dana Elementary School in Henderson County where her daughter, Rebecca, now teaches – continuing three generations of service to the children of North Carolina. Although she had lived in many places, she considered the mountains of NC her home. She was devoted to her family and friends, loved music, history, travel and everything about food and cooking. Teddy and Julee, her little doggies, were her constant companions, part of her family, and exemplified her care and love for all animals. Always full of spirit, Carolyn’s smile and lovely personality will endure. The graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Glen Alpine Cemetery.Memorial gifts may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals, P.
