Carolyn Jean Shoaf, 78, of Morganton, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. She was born on November 11, 1943 in Rowan County to the late John Calvin File and Virgie Adams File. She and her husband served several Baptist churches in NC and SC for 52 years. Carolyn was a beloved homemaker, mother and grandmother to her family and was loved by many. Her desire was that everybody would come to know the Lord as their Savior. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 93:23-24.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J.C. Shoaf; son, Jerry W. Shoaf; two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew Shoaf (Josephine) and Nathan Shoaf (Bridget); daughters, Cynthia Heatherly (Dwight) and Angela Bumgarner (Kevin); six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Joe File.
The family will have a private graveside service at Wyatt’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
