Carol Maxine Benton

Carol Maxine Benton, 80, of Morganton, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 following a period of declining health.

Born on October 1, 1942, she was the daughter of the late James Harrison Benton and Nettie Mae Whisenant Benton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Benton; and brother-in-law, Billy G. Shuffler.

Carol worked in the office of Drexel Heritage and was a member of Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church.

Miss Benton is survived by her sister, Betty Benton Shuffler.

A memorial service for Carol will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church, 2698 NC-181, Morganton, immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
